Dawn dishwashing liquid and very hot water will take it off. Scrub it with a sponge or dish cloth, rinse well with very hot water, then dry with a lint free towel. Be sure to moisturize the wood (I'm assuming it's wood) after cleaning. I use Old English or Liquid Gold.

Use straight vinegar. Rinse with a clean rag. Repeat as necessary until grease is gone.
