Primer for my wooden cabinets?

I have OLD wooden cabinets that are stained. I know I need to lightly sand and prime them, but what kind of primer do I need? These cabinets have been here (and were stained) in about 1953???
I forgot to say that I want to paint them.

    After you sand, use a sanding sealer, and sand with a very fine sandpaper “600 grit” and then stain them again.

    I’d use Kilz primer. It’s the best I have found so far and you can find it at any hardware or major store.

    You can tint the Kilz or buy an alredy tinted stain-blocking primer.
