How do you stain oak cabinets to make them look like Cherry.?
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Really want it to look professional. We have newer oak cabinets in the house we bought, but I hate oak cabinets. Can I stain them cherry and have them look nice? Do I have to replace the doors to really pull it off? Has anyone done this that can tell me about your experience?

Thanks for the good answers Woodtick and Don, I hate to put on a veneer, the cabinets are only about a year and a half old and are solid wood. I guess I just have to either live with the oak or stain it into a cherry. Is all red oak really light? Just curious if it could be made to something believable with a bit more color than a bland oak.

What color appliances look better with natural maple kitchen cabinets?
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010I’m remodeling the kitchen and using natural maple cabinets. They are made of maple wood, have no stain, but just a urethane finish. Very light color, but popular. Would black or white appliances look better with these cabinets? I’m selling the house, so I don’t want to buy expensive (stainless steel) appliances.
