How do you stain oak cabinets to make them look like Cherry.?
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Really want it to look professional. We have newer oak cabinets in the house we bought, but I hate oak cabinets. Can I stain them cherry and have them look nice? Do I have to replace the doors to really pull it off? Has anyone done this that can tell me about your experience?

Thanks for the good answers Woodtick and Don, I hate to put on a veneer, the cabinets are only about a year and a half old and are solid wood. I guess I just have to either live with the oak or stain it into a cherry. Is all red oak really light? Just curious if it could be made to something believable with a bit more color than a bland oak.

What type of store should I visit to purchase a Pantry/Storage cabinet?
Saturday, March 20th, 2010I know this sounds like a no brainer…. but Wal-mart used to carry them in their stores, but no longer do, Target has only a small one and Home Depot didn’t have anything which would work either. I can get them online – but they want almost $100.00 shipping! Suggestions?

what is the correct way to paint bathroom cabinets?
Thursday, January 14th, 2010we are remodeling our bathroom. The countertop is shot but our cabinets are still in great shape. They are not solid wood…they are wood faced. They have been painted once already but I don’t like the color. I am concerned about painting it as I don’t want the paint to scratch or chip off. Any suggestions as to how to assure this will not happen.
