What kind of wood floor would work well with honey oak cabinets and trim?
Thursday, February 11th, 2010We may be buying my parents house and I would like to see wood floors throughout much of the house. The problem-Everything is Honey Oak (which I’m not wild about); doors, trim, cabinets, baseboards. I am not prepared to refinish all of the exsisting wood, so I plan to stick with the oak. What floor would look ok next to honey oak baseboards? Maybe a verigated floor that has a little honey color here and there? I just don’t know.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010I am putting new doors on solid oak frame kitchen cabinets.The new doors are unfinished solid oak.The frames and sides are about 10 years old, and have been stained once.The current color is a miniwax provincial.I am sanding the frame and preparing it for the new doors.The miniwax cherry stain I have tried so far doesn’t give me the color and depth I am looking for.What is the best brand of stain to give a rich furniture grade color and smoothness on the cabinets and where can I buy it?Cost really doesn’t matter.I just want a great rich looking finish in a medium cherry tone when finished.

Is it okay to mix laminate cabinets with wood cabinets?
Thursday, January 14th, 2010I have an eat in kitchen that is stuck in the 1960s, and I never eat in it. So I want to add some more cabinets to bring in some storage. I also want to get rid of my laminate cabinets, but I would only replace the doors. My main question is, how do I get them to match with the wood cabinets I would be putting in?
