what is the correct way to paint bathroom cabinets?

we are remodeling our bathroom. The countertop is shot but our cabinets are still in great shape. They are not solid wood…they are wood faced. They have been painted once already but I don’t like the color. I am concerned about painting it as I don’t want the paint to scratch or chip off. Any suggestions as to how to assure this will not happen.

  1. Joey says:

You could never go wrong with sanding-priming-light sanding-2nd coat primer – paint (as many layers needed).

I agree with Joey’s technique. But might I add buying Kilz for your primer.

  3. Jill says:

Due to the fact the cabinets are in the bathroom, you must use an oil based paint, or it will peel from the moisture. Sanding is recommended as is a primer of Kilz.
