What type of paint should I use to paint wooden cabinets and desks? How do I paint over dark furniture? ?

I don’t want to use the spray paints I see at the stores for wooden furniture.

Also one of the desks is dark mahogany and I would like to paint it to a light color. Do I have to use a lot of layers of paint? Is a glossing coat needed for the cabinets and desks?

    If the desk is Real Wood, I wouldn’t paint over it..sand and restain. More value to it. As for cabinets, go chat with a pro at the local Home Depot. They can help you out with all your questions.

    To paint wood, you should sand the wood to “rough” the surface. Use a durable primer, allow to dry 24 hours, then paint. If the wood is already painted, you may choose to “strip” the paint off before repainting. You can find several brands of paint removal in your local hardware store- I like Farmby’s.
